“Faraway holds nothing but distance.”

​

The work is a visual writing piece about the library. By searching for a Chinese poet, Haizi (Hai, ocean in Chinese), in the library. Lam delves into our desire for a destination or goal and our inevitable distance from it, just like the unreachable sea horizon. The content is only numbers and fragmented words. Text feels like moisture; it becomes part of us and evaporates when we read it, an invisible matter that can be transformed.

The works reflect Lam's observations and associations with the library and books, as well as her unique thinking and understanding of the case.

作品是一本基於思考與觀察圖書館作起點的繪畫日誌，過程中林氏由在圖書館裏尋找一位叫海子的詩人開始，在迷失與尋找之中不斷重複徘徊，我們不斷尋覓真實，又不斷懷疑所視，我們一直靠近真實，又一直與其存有距離，正如航海的人與海平線的距離。作品反映了林氏對於圖書館及書本的觀察和聯想，體現了她對題案的思路和理解。
